The Cisco SPA 508G is an all-in-one IP telephone solution designed for small businesses. With features that are both easy to learn and convenient to use, it’s no wonder this it is an ideal choice for managers and office administrators
On the front panel of the Cisco SPA 508G, you will see buttons and objects that resemble that of a regular office phone. The 12 button dialing keypad is there, along with a high quality handset that sits comfortably on its cradle. There is an additional rocking directional knob button that provides 4 way navigational controls. There are also dedicated buttons for instant functional access. This includes the volume control, call on hold function, mute settings, headset on/off, and speakerphone on/off. Furthermore, you can easily gain access to your voicemails through another dedicated voicemail button. Most buttons are illuminated, so you can operate the Cisco SPA 508G under different lighting condition
A monochrome backlit display is present for setting options and configurations. This graphical display is in 128 x 64 pixel-based format, giving good visual readability. Configuration is done with ease using a menu based selection. There is also a web based configuration that is integrated within the Cisco SPA 508G
When operating the Cisco SPA 508G, you can use the handset when making calls, or use the built in speakerphone function for full hands-off communication. Dialing numbers is made very efficient through number auto-completion. Auto dial is also possible on any of the 100 possible entries from the personal directory. Directory name matching with called number is also supported. Complementing this feature is another one that allows users to dial a number using the name that comes from caller ID or directory matching. It even has a “do not disturb” feature that can be used during busy periods. A special feature known as Uniform Resource Identifier support is useful for dialing SIP numbers
Monitoring and administration with a Cisco SPA 508G is easy to manage. Call logging enables you to recall when a call was last made, along with the call duration. A log record is also available to show missed calls, answered calls and calls made. System logs and Event logs are automatically recorded and are retrievable anytime. Group paging and intercom functions allow people to easily collaborate with one another, giving the ability to arrive at decisions in a timely manner
