The Cisco 504G is a 4-line VoIP solution designed to work for small business organisations. As a business grade IP phone, it brings office productivity to the next level, utilising new technologies in voice communication over IP infrastructure
At first glance, the Cisco 504G looks like a regular office phone, complete with features like a regular handset that sits on a cradle, 12 button dial keypad, an LCD screen, plus additional buttons and light indicators. The makers of this model really intended to make the Cisco 504G look similar to the traditional phone to ensure that users can quickly adapt to the new features and innovation that comes with it
The most notable difference between the Cisco 504G and the other Cisco SPA500 series is that it has 4 voice lines. This puts the Cisco 504G in the middle level of the SPA500 series, both in terms of design, functionality, and cost considerations. It has two 10 / 100 Base T Ethernet ports for network connectivity using RJ45 connectors
The Cisco 504G has a built in speakerphone and high quality microphone. This provides the user with the flexibility of operating the IP phone in hands-off mode, or via the handset. It is also possible to incorporate a headset into the Cisco 504G unit by plugging it onto a 2.5mm port. Either way, users can experience high quality voice communication without unnecessary interference. This is made possible through the various audio enhancement technologies that is integrated within the Cisco SPA 504G. This includes jitter buffering, automatic voice activity detection, adjustments for gain and attenuation, silence suppression, and comfort noise generation
The Cisco 504G Phone processes voice and data using difference protocols, all of which are in compliance with international standards. It supports many protocols that are commonly used in data network communication, which includes TCP, UDP, ICMP, DHCP for host configuration, RTP, RTCP, ARP, VLAN tagging, SNTP and IPv4
System and Events logging, user authentication, encrypted voice transmission, and multiple level setup are just a few security measures that are integrated into each Cisco SPA 504G. All of these are geared towards providing the user with a reliable communication service as well as providing network administrators with a convenient means of configuring and maintaining the entire IP Phone system.
