The Grandstream GXP1400 is designed for 1 SIP account coupled with 2 line appearances. Each line has a dual coloured LED for status indication. A neat 128 x 40 graphical LCD screen displays important information such as call status, call list, and for viewing logged history. Most of the keys are quite straight forward and similar to traditional phones. One remarkable feature is the presence of 3 soft keys that can be programmed for various context sensitive functions. This feature is made possible through its built in XML support, which is also essential for creating customised services and applications

The Grandstream GXP1400 can also provide users with personalised settings and services that can be adjusted according to their preferences. Some of these personalised services include local weather feeds and stock exchange information. Users can also create personalised ring tones so incoming calls can be recognised immediately even without looking at the LCD screen

Users can use the handset mode or speakerphone when making and receiving calls. The handset is equipped with a HD wideband audio quality, so each conversation is assured of the highest quality. Using the speakerphone mode is also great. The absence of echoes and external background noises is comparable to the high end models offered by other brands
