For a new level of experience in IP telephony, Cisco introduces the SPA 525G, which is part of the Cisco SPA 500 IP phone series created for the small businesses. It is a 5-line IP phone that allows 5 distinct contact numbers or extensions. It can also use a shared number that is designated to multiple phones

The phone is equipped with lots of user enhancement features apart from the basic IP telephony functions. A special built in feature is the integration of a VLAN client in its dual switched Ethernet ports. VLAN functionality allows remote users to securely and conveniently connect to their IP phone system. From there, they can perform a wide variety of functions without being physically present, like making calls over the Internet. Since VLAN client is already integrated into the Cisco SPA 525G IP phone system, there is no need for additional hardware to make it work

Another useful feature that comes with the phone is the video surveillance mode. This allows users to get video feeds that come from the Cisco PVC2300 video surveillance cameras. This is an excellent way for monitoring and maintaining a secured area from the comforts of a central viewing console

The main viewing screen is a colourful 3.2 inch QVGA display, which can present high resolution graphics in 320 x 240 pixels as well as other relevant information. Complementing this graphical enhancement is a host of multimedia functionalities. You can play and listen to MP3 music, display digital photos and stream RSS feeds online

The phone is also equipped with a Wireless-G (802.11g) client, which allows the IP phone to connect using Wi-Fi technology. Another wireless technology, Bluetooth, is integrated as well. This can be used to connect to a cordless headset that supports Bluetooth connectivity

For more power control, the Cisco SPA 525G is capable of expansion by supporting up to two Cisco SPA 500S expansion modules. This setup will provide users with an additional 32 fully functional and programmable buttons, great for power users who need to make regular frequent calls

Other than the enhanced features, the Cisco SPA 525G can still function as a regular IP phone, allowing basic functions like call forwarding, call transfer, caller ID, call parking, and call logs for easy redials. It is also capable of 3-way conferencing calls. When not using the handset, you can make use of the builtin speakerphone and enjoy crystal clear communication anytime
